Max from Moldavia and his Question to Hillary about Gay Rights
President Obama, you promised to support Gay Rights here in the USA-it's time. Why not an effort in the area of "Unions" that you supported in your campaign. Why not the end of "Don't Ask,Don't Tell"(Thank you Clinton's for being so bold) Why can you not President Obama, especially as a person of a minority discriminated against in the past be as bold?
United States Of America Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton

I'm very happy with the work that President Obama is doing to end discrimination against LGBT people AND more importantly I like the way he's doing it. NEVER before has any president put LGBT rights on the official agenda:

This month, Obama endorced a U.N. declaration calling for the worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality that then-President George W. Bush had refused to sign.
Of course he will not get any credit for any good work he does, because people just want to continue looking for reasons to dislike him. And when you're looking for a reason to dislike someone, you're going to find reasons.
I do not agree with Hilary Clinton. Inequality is not an unfortunate event. It continues because of the actions of our leaders which she is one of. Gay people are not in need of this woman in a position of authority stating she wishes for hope.
I'm very happy with the work that President Obama is doing

Here's a link to a response to this issue posted on Scribd. It's too long to fit in the comment box but I would urge someone to bring it to the attention of the Secretary of State.
Sincerely

Dear Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton
It's nice to have this opportunity to blog you on this important topic and to respond to the issues Max raised although it’s going to take a bit more of your time to consider what I have to say. So please forgive me, but the issues involved are complex.
I felt Max was deliberately implying that the decriminalisation of homosexuality and gay human rights were one and the same agenda by virtue of their global reach. This is a very dangerous assumption and one which is likely to feed into future value based geo-political conflicts in the world.
I support Gay Civil Liberties, which of course implies the decriminalisation of homosexuality, but I do not support Gay Human Rights because they are rights which we enjoy by virtue of our common humanity not by virtue of our sexual orientation. Homosexuals like heterosexuals enjoy similar human rights where all the key issues are concerned. There is no need for homosexuals to have separate human rights just as there is no need for heterosexuals to. The Gay Civil Liberties approach is a far safer approach as liberties can be negotiated at a society level allowing for differing religious and cultural traditions, including the aspiration to the universal decriminalisation of homosexuality.........
